How about we stop worrying about "sides" and start working to fix the fuckin' problems as "Americans."

If this doesn't happen, let's start by getting rid of the assholes that have served more than two consecutive terms, and put some fresh faces in there. If that doesn't work, fire them all and start over. Otherwise this will continue to be an ongoing problem for years to come. :(

Bingo. You, sir, have hit the nail on the head. The two parties are just different heads of the same hydra, and they just redistribute the crumbs a little bit differently while they keep the whole damn cake to themselves.
To fire them all, I think we'd need a continental congress. We'd also definitely need the majority of Americans to understand, for once, that voting Republican or Democrat is doomed to fail. Voting for anybody else at all has a much better chance of putting someone there that gives a rat's ass.

-The opinions expressed are not necessarily an advocation of any of the aforementioned ideologies, concepts, or actions. We still have the freedom of speech, for now, and I enjoy using it in a satirical or ficticious manner to amuse myself-

Not really. The southern democrat would gladly have you as a LITERAL SLAVE (if you're black, that is)

Which is really interesting, because as far as I know (ie, I know I'm generalising, and I'm too lazy at the moment to look it up, but this
is my experience) most of the blacks around here vote Democrat.

I always wondered about that until I started really paying attention
to politics, and I realized the Democrats seem to love to throw money
    at social programs.

    My subjective experience has been:

That people who tend to vote Democrat want to be taken care of, don't want
to think about the future, and don't want to be bothered by how the country
is run. They also tend to be hypocritical with very passionate opinions on
how they think the government should be run without understanding the hows
or whys of what's going on. These are the people who tend to grumble
about Republicans raising taxes, when in reality it's Republican tax
    breaks expiring.

That people who tend to vote Republican want to see people taken care
of, but understand we can't keep the blinders on, and have to take
care of the nation first. They worry about how the national debt will
affect inflation, dealings with other nations, and what will
eventually happen if we don't get a handle on spending. They think
long term, and pay attention to political news, understanding that it
affects them directly in many small ways. These are the people who
tend to grumble whenever MSNBC is turned on.

also i dont see many successful democrats. aside from movie stars, who live
    in their own little bubble.

i think democratic politicians want to keep the people down so they keep voting democrat. when i hear democrats talking about voting, they say 'oh i better vote for this guy so i dont lose my benefits'.

in my state there's a huge problem with able bodied people who sit on their asses and collect benefits. when they are put to work through programs they get fired or they're just so BAD, they don't last long. i've seen it with my own eyes. this one lady i worked with would break things on purpose that cost thousands of dollars.

i dont consider myself republican or democrat, btw. i vote for a person. i'm not on some team blindly following.

Yes! That's the only way. And freeing oneself from party politics then allows the person to vote for 3rd party too! :)

    I've heard similar.

Being a generous person, I have to say I don't know whether they all
do it on purpose or not. Also, my own experiences the last couple
years has likely made me a little more sympathetic. Certainly there's
some laziness, but trying to navigate "the system" first-hand, I see a
lot of cracks that I'm sure I'm not the only one falling into.

However, in my past management positions, I certainly saw people roll
through who were either completely incompetent, or trying to make just
enough to skim by. I can't completely discount the incompetent part,
because I hail from one of those upper class towns with a lot of
spoiled rich kids, and they act exactly the same as the ones coming
from "across the tracks", aside from better clothes and vocabulary.

i dont consider myself republican or democrat, btw. i vote for a
person. i'm not on some team blindly following.

Same here. Each election cycle I look at what's out there. I've
never voted Democrat, however. Lately I almost always vote for the
    Libertarian candidate.
