• News Alert: Interior Department pushing controversial new road through Alaska wildlife refuge

    From CNN Breaking News@VERT to no-reply@siteservices.cnn.com on Sun Dec 10 18:18:09 2017
The Interior Department, led by Secretary Ryan Zinke, is pushing a plan that would -- for the first time -- allow a new road through a federally protected wilderness area, according to internal government emails.

Local authorities say the road is needed to transport residents of the tiny, isolated city of King Cove to hospitals in the event of medical emergencies. Critics of the road, however, say it would be disastrous, not just for the Izembek refuge but in setting a precedent for construction in wilderness areas nationwide.ÿ

The project would be the latest in what has been a series of environmental conservation rollbacks by the Interior Department under President Donald
    Trump.ÿ

    Alaska wildlife refuge

Another bridge to nowhere. King Cove has it's own airport... give them a medical helicopter for $2 million and save $20 billion in construction/maintenance costs plus the most important part... save protected wilderness area.

Critics of the road, however, say it would be disastrous, not just for the Izembek refuge but in setting a precedent for construction in wilderness areas nationwide.

There are 1,000 residents in King Cove, so let's spend $20 million/person for a two lane road that will probably be unusable 3 months out of the year.

The project would be the latest in what has been a series of environmental conservation rollbacks by the Interior Department under President Donald Trump.

Ofcourse it has... more insanity from the moronic administration.
