I initially thought of posting this in the UNIX sub-board, but I wasn't sure as this is about Linux..

I just saw this YouTube video today - Apparently there's a new Linux distribution that looks pretty much just like Windows 10:

Yeah, I don't really think a Linux distro needs to look exactly like Windows, but some of the things there looked interesting.

okay i just tried it out. it bombed on the install twice, but 2nd time it worked anyways. complained about not being able to get some libs and said installation failed.

so i tried it out and it LOOKS like windows. the wine support is kinda ok. i couldnt run console apps but i got winrar to install and run after running it 3 times.

eventually i went to using the terminal.

so if someone wants something that LOOKS like win10 but does not work like win10, i'd say go ahead. oh i tried out the cortana clone and it was pathetic. ---

I don't think anyone would expect a Linux distro to work quite like Windows.. And the video did say the Cortana clone was a bit lacking.
I've never actually used Cortana in Windows 10.. I don't feel like I have a use for it. Also, when Windows 10 first came out, it said Cortana required all the tracking settings (location, etc.) to be turned on, and I wanted to turn all those off.

those crappy headphones i said i got at 5 and below are hanging from my bankers light on my desk. i use the microphone for cortana. i use it to check the weather and set alarms for when i'm cooking a pizza.

anyways, on the surface that thing is impressive but needs a lot of work. they spent a lot of time copying the look. the cortana cloneg has a robot voice and it sucks.

you should check it out in a vm. if it fails for you keep trying to install it. ---

Recently I watched a Youtube video where a guy who pranks the computer
support scammers had the tech remote into a linux box with a very
Windows-like appearance. The "tech" was getting confused why his scripts and commands at the "run" prompt weren't working. The tech spent about 30
minutes until he asked another guy to look at it. The prankster had a program
that masked his voice to sound like a lady, and his story was she was given this machine by her husband several years ago, and it was running Win 7.
I've seen some of the scammer pranking videos where the scammer realizes
right away they are on a virtual machine by looking at system settings but
    this guy couldn't find them.

Haha, that's gold. Nothing like breaking their assumptions. :D

Yeah, I don't really think a Linux distro needs to look exactly like
Windows, but some of the things there looked interesting.

I think the strength and appeal of the linux distros is that their designs *are* fresh and innovative - and *can* be far removed from the "look" of Windows.

Sure.. throw in a Windows background and use one of the distros that resembles Windows menuing if you really can't bear missing Windows. But
why would you want to dumb-down the look and operations like that?

My last foray into linux distros was an early Ubuntu when they offered
them for free via mail. Ubuntu completely revitalized my then maxed-out
WinME pc - and even performed better! The look n feel and operations were wonderful. Even the smaller ones like Puppy seemed amazing. That was over
    15 years ago.

A couple years ago, I had an opportunity to equip a friend's failed XP
system with a linux distro. (The person had no budget for a new pc, but
they needed to retain some legacy support with an existing printer and an
    all their photos.)

When I started looking at the various distro offerings, I was amazed how
far along the designs and operations had come. The choices between all the different desktops KDE Xfce LXLE MATE etc.. were wonderful to experience.
    So nice.
