Hey, I do that! :D It's much easier to hold a calculator and
poke at the keys than it is to move a mouse around and use a
calculator program. With a handheld calc I like to move around
and not have to always be seated.

Not only that but there are still times when a well trained 10-key operator can figure out something much faster than someone trying to use the numeric keypad on a PC.

It's based on the concept of using the right tool for the job, even if a newer tool exists that is slower.

And ometimes, you may simply want to work on a few figures on the screen, and not swap between apps.

I've rarely had to walk around while using a calculator.. Most of my calculator use has been while I'm at a desk doing something on my computer (perhaps shopping for something, doing taxes, etc.), and in the past, using a calculator for math and physics classes in college and high school.

I use Console Calculator by Zoesoft at work (Windows). I have the "Calculator" key set up to bring it up (the program itself can configure that key to bring it up), type in the equation and hit enter. So simple. Something like ((65*200)+500)/13000
can be typed just like that.

I agree a calculator is convienient, and better in some cases. I just find it odd that some people do multiple calculations with it. The problem really is that people don't think to use it, or no one things to have it installed for people to use.
