It would be nice if BBSes would just settle at the main menu
right after login. If you wanted bulletins and scores, you
could ask for them THEN. I don't like wading through the excess
ansi scrolls, bulletins and ads either.
OpenXP is a command console point system for Windows and Linux.
It is still fully supported and being developed.
Alternatively, if you are still enamoured with using QWK, try
Sempoint or Durango. Sempoint is 16-bit for Windows. Durango
is 16-bit too, but it is more DOS-like. Both are nolonger
supported or developed.
Or.. consider NNTP-method for reading/writing messages. It's
quick, easy to add and remove areas, full control with your
message archive locally, etc.. You quite versatile in the sense
that you can use the newsreader of your choice.

I was a Blue Wave beta tester way back in the day. I remember a few
times getting a special code so that the
beta test version would work. But I've long lost my Blue Wave registration code. 8(

I wish I could use it again. But I don't think George is selling
licenses anymore.

install, only decompress:

At installation, once you select the [E]nglish option, all the
internal F1-help is in English.
The best how-to-guide to start with would be the .PDF file

I remember using at least a couple of different BW readers in
the past. I believe one of them allowed filing/managing older
packets.

You can use Blue Wave unregistered virtually unfettered. The only limitations are that tear lines cannot be disabled, and file requests
are limited to 1 per packet. (These limitations are practically inconsequential).

You can Google "bluewave 2.30 serial" right ? any of those serials
will work. Or try "http://www.tinysbbs.com/files/offline/BWREADR.ZIP".
It turns out that people can prefix their usernames with "!" to jump straight to a Synchronet main menu.
Or prefix with '*' to jump straight to the QWK menu.
