It would be nice if BBSes would just settle at the main menu
right after login. If you wanted bulletins and scores, you
could ask for them THEN. I don't like wading through the excess
ansi scrolls, bulletins and ads either.

Does not Synchronet have user-customisable login profiles ?

OpenXP is a command console point system for Windows and Linux.
It is still fully supported and being developed.

But all the reference documentation is in German.

Alternatively, if you are still enamoured with using QWK, try
Sempoint or Durango. Sempoint is 16-bit for Windows. Durango
is 16-bit too, but it is more DOS-like. Both are nolonger
    supported or developed.

Blue Wave is the most professional and polished QWK reader I have ever used.

Is Sempoint and Durango free ?

    Or.. consider NNTP-method for reading/writing messages. It's
quick, easy to add and remove areas, full control with your
message archive locally, etc.. You quite versatile in the sense
that you can use the newsreader of your choice.

Does Synchronet provide a NNTP feed ?

I re-installed BW just for kicks. I found my 2.2 license, couldn't find my
2.3 license. While BW support was nice and BW was head and shoulders above contemporaries like SLMR and OFFLINE, MultiMail seems as polished at BW ever was, and it's GPL licensed.

I was a real BW fan back in the day, I'd mentioned that a post of mine from the Fido BLUEWAVE echo made it into the sample BW packet included with the reader.

You can use Blue Wave unregistered virtually unfettered. The only limitations are that tear lines cannot be disabled, and file requests are limited to 1 per packet. (These limitations are practically inconsequential).
