A friend of mine has a Fujitsu 17" Notebook computer and it recently

What happens when you press around the edges where the white band is located?
    >Does it make it worse, or do nothing? I have seen connection problems create
    >similar issues. Also, impacts will do that kind of damage to the screen. I

He carries it in a sponge lined aluminum case so one would think it's
well protected. If the area were just blank I could see damaged connection problems and such more easily but when the screen info is there and just
super bright or washed out.. it seems harder to figure the cause..

I'll ask about the other things you mentioned... Thanks..
