From Blue White@21:4/134 to All on Thu Mar 26 22:34:35 2020
Well, if you all are tired of hearing all the bad things that are going on lately, I have been noticing some things that, when times are "normal"
would not be happening but that I think are really nice.

I was out walking today and there was not one, but two parades in my neighborhood. One was apparently some primary school teachers driving
around to see their students (from a distance!). They were honking horns
and hanging out windows. Kids were waiting at the foot of driveways, and at least one had written a "miss you" message to her favorite teacher in
    chalk.

The second, larger one turned out to be for a kid's 5-year birthday. That
one must have had 15-20 cars! The family has a corner lot, so the cars
were lined up on both streets, everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to the kid
in the front yard. When I first saw them, they were all still in
procession, all of them waving at me while I waited to cross the road. All
of them had balloons and signs on them. They went around the corner and
    parked by the house.

Yes, I social distanced (is that a word?) on both occassions. :)

Something else I heard on a conference call today regarding people who are working from home with young children also home from school. Since the
kids can't go see their grandparents, they have a daily morning "video conference call" with the grandparents. They do that in one room while the parent is able to get meetings, work, etc., done in another room.

So they have a daily scheduled meeting just like their parent does. :)

I thought that was a neat idea, not only for parents with kids but also for kids who are maybe used to being able to spend time with loved ones that
they currently are not able to.

That is some cool stuff. Even in adversity, we find a way to do good things.

We've been doing that with my 10-year old daughter and her friends. My 16- year old already had several ways to talk to his friends - they played Dungeons and Dragons over Discord recently.

Here's a reminder - be mindful of the people living alone in your world - especially the elderly who may need more help. Knock on their door, ask if they're doing OK. Leave telephone numbers in case they need anything.

I thought so. People are doing some nice stuff lately.

Yeah - it's funny - us gamers have been doing this 'social distancing'
thing for YEARS now! Not on purpose, but because our 'old gaming buddies'
live in other states, so we get online to play RPG's & such. :-)

They mentioned on the news yesterday that while parents should normally
limit their kid's screen time, now was a good time to relax it a bit.
Because many are restricted from seeing their friends face-to-face, the Dr.
was saying it is better for them to be socializing with friends over
facetime, etc., than it is for them to be completely isolated.

Great to hear that your kids are adapting.
