Anyhow. Thanks for having me and thanks to Avon and Alterego to get me
set up on fsxNet.
I'm based in the Republic of Ireland these days. The BBS is again
available with V90 analogue 56k or ISDN 64k (X75 and V120),
V110 GSM CSD,
but also via telnet and ssh (the.alienmindbenders.net) on both IPv4 and IPv6.
$ ssh the.alienmindbenders.net
Unable to negotiate with xxx.xxx.155.90 port 22: no matching cipher
found. Their offer: aes128-cbc,3des-cbc
$ ssh the.alienmindbenders.net
Unable to negotiate with xxx.xxx.155.90 port 22: no matching cipher

just dropping in here to say hello.
I used to run a BBS called "The Alien Mindbenders BBS" in southern
Denmark in the 90s. It was online from 1992 to around 1997 running a
combo of RA and FD. It was accessible initially at 9600 baud, the
14400, then a ZyXEL with 19200 was incorporated until the final
upgrade to ISDN, so it could be accessed using V90 56k or ISDN 64k. It
was also accessible using packet radio via CB.
The BBS has been added to Fidonet on Friday (2:263/5) and fsxNet today (21:3/103).

Hi,
your ssh client is too strict on ciphers, which is the default on more recent Linux installations.
Mystic BBS still uses an older crypt library. It crashes with the
latest one. So the only way to connect using ssh is, that you might
have to add those additional ciphers to what is allowed or use telnet
... which is ... well.

I'm not working around software that uses outdated crypto. Mystic is
RA and FD is an awesome combo that I also ran back in the day along with FE.
I was more a Bink person, but as for tossers, I switched a few times between Fmail and FE, depending on which had the features I needed at
the time. RA was always my BBS back in the day.

I first joined fidonet because a user on the BBS asked for it. I knew basically what fidonet was but hadn't done it yet. I knew what a BBS
was but had no idea about tossers and mailers.
I was in chat with a sysop and told him I was planning to join fidonet
and he came over to the house and helped me get it all up and send in
an application. He was a great help and knew all the ropes and who I
needed to contact. He initially set me up with FD and FMail. I
eventually made my way to Maximus & Squish. I still have a lot of
respect for that combo. I ran quite a long time with Telegard and
Squish also. A great pairing.
Hi Marlow what part of Ireland are you? i lived in Cork for nearly 10 years from 1995.
