You need a logo in a high resolution format and somewhere to print it. There are several online shops that can ship all over the world and that have local services both in Europe and the US for example.

I'd like the idea of a fsxNet t-shirt not sure how to go about that though.

    We could, for example:
    - recreate the fsxNet ANSI logo as a vector file and then
    - use print-on-demand T-Shirt vendor with Int'l shipping, or
    - old school: 4-color screen print DYI and let people make them
    - someone with home screen printing setup could do them :)

Are there any rights/restrictions around using the fsxNet ansi 'logo'? E.g. from the artist?

I imagine it's not high volume so probably just a matter of cranking out a dozen or so, selling them at cost?

    (changed the Subject line FYI)

I found a cp437 font that looks like it'd work to recreate the artwork as a vector file. I'm happy to take a crack at this, it's just a matter of typing over the original artwork as a background template. I'll give it a whirl :)

Then we can mess around with different layouts in WYSIWYG design editors.

OK, took a simpler/more flexible route w/vector transfer, as that font didn't match up very well. I'm essentially recreating the block-ansi characters as a library of vector shapes (via Affinity Designer) and then anything you can do in an ANSI editor can be assembled at will, if you don't mind pasting and re-coloring layers.

Taking a crack at recreating the ANSI file in the fsxNet info pack as an example, I've finished the border areas and "fs" in fsxNet -- should have an example soon. I can share the source vector file if anyone wants it as well.

It'll be T-Shirt ready in no time!

Any other cool fsxNet ANSIs out there? There's a lot of grey in this one, but it sure makes the blue pop on black :)

Don't know if my mail is going out (again) so thought I'd post again just in case. I'm about 1/2 way through converting the fsxNet ANSI (from the
infopack) to a vector file. I've essentially re-drew all the cp437 glyphs in
a vector drawing program and I'm re-building the artwork block by block.

When it's done (probably this weekend) I can share the file and we can use it as a test for a T-Shirt layout, either print-on-demand, or if anyone is handle with silk screening...

Once it's vector-ized, there's no limit to the high-res stuff we could do with it! I'd rock a poster as well :)

Nice! Finished about 75% of the conversion, should be ready tomorrow FYI.

I am curious of about the rights of the original artist of the ANSI... Should we be seeking permission before converting, or creating new works?

Is that the same thing they do with photographs when they want them plastered on billboards or on the sides of cars and trucks?

For billboards and other so-called "long view" things, it's typically a raster image file (e.g. high resolution bitmap file, which are essentially made from colored pixels -- vs vector, which is for illustration-type work and is actually created using mathematical formualas). A billboard will have a high PPI (pixels per inch) like 9 PPI, which is 9 pixels = 1 inch @ 300 Document Resolution. So up close, it'll look blocky, but far away it lt looks amazing.

Are there any rights/restrictions around using the fsxNet ansi 'logo'? E.g. from the artist?

This is what I will need to check. I'll contact the artist to see.

I'd like the idea of a fsxNet t-shirt not sure how to go about that though.

    redbubble is one option.

I'd need to look into that. Use of supplied artwork is another issue to work through also.

Yeah, Redbubble is one of those sites that allows artists to sell their art online on a range of products.

You need a logo in a high resolution format and somewhere to print it.
There are several online shops that can ship all over the world and that
have local services both in Europe and the US for example.

Do you know what sorts of formats are acceptable Joacim? And how high
    is high

I've done them in PNG files when I last did T-shirts for my old website and later my podcast. I made them like 2000x2000 pixels and saved them in the maximum size in Pixelmator on my Mac and it came out just fine. The print quality on a t-shirt isn't that high resolution-wise and most of these web sites that do print-on-demand will have instructions on file formats and such.

I didn't know you had a blog AND you are an ANSI artist -- love that pilot art. Can you send me the .ans file? I'm in a converti mood!

I will when I am home next. Might be a few days

You know what - no worries, I can actually work from the image on your blog, since it's just a template I'll be drawing over, like tracing.

apam, I sent you a netmail, but wanted to let you know I finished converting your fsxNet aviator art and there's a shirt mockup on the site:
