Thanks for checking in on us. I'm 25 miles north of downtown Dallas so unaffected by what is going on here. I aim to keep that sort of distance for
    a while too.

Thank you for the message. Doing great here in Western Oregon...even though
the town went into lockdown yesterday because of the protests. When I found this out from one of the managers...was at work. The rest of my shift was
    quiet & uneventful.

On the other hand...they had other big box stores locally closed/barricaded
in the case something might happen. In Portland and other cities...there was reports of looting & such. Here...some are terrified more of this than of the pandemic.

We are effectively back to normal here other than office work. Most everyone is still working from home. Our downtown area has protests but it is relatively peaceful in Sacramento. I'm not sure about any other area in California. I'm in a busy training class these two weeks and it's keeping me busy for a certification exam. And of course, home projects.

Speaking of the pandemic, it seems no one cares to talk about it anymore. It's still ravaging our senior community and it breaks my heart.

I have my cousin visiting and he watches my house with his weapons while I'm watching my mom's properties. My brother is downtown watching the family business. Luckily we're far out but they've been testing the waters in the suburbs here. They've had near zero luck as many folks have weapons.

Now he's going to be out doing the patrolling while I'm home protecting the house.

I do something very similar, basically take every practice exam I can going into the exam. When I got my CCNA a few years back (before they changed everything) I had just finished a networking course and felt pretty confident.

As I recall I needed an 87 to pass and I got an 82 the first time I wrote. I was more than a little perturbed at myself, so I went home and studied my ass off (they give you pointers on areas you needed to improve in) and practice-examed the hell out of that. I went back the next week and passed
    in the high 90's.

Now when I write an exam I usually opt for slightly more expensive "second shot" or whatever the vendor happens to call it option, where you can write a second time for "free" if you fail the first time. Paying US$325 twice for
the same exam did sting a little bit.

    Hello calcmandan,

The nazi's were far left radicals like today's antifa.

The nazi's were largely considered far right. That's true of nazi's or neo-nazi's today also.

The nazi party was socialist, hence their official name "National Socialist German Worker's Party." If people consider them far right, then history is being categorically ignored or it is being rewritten to fit today's narrative. The latter happens far more often than you would expect. If people consider Nazi's far right then socialism is a far right ethos and that follows zero logic.

They were more nationalistic and don't resemble todays right or left. I hope.

Yeah, the nazi's were definitely nationalistic. And there are Europeans I've spoken with on these echoes who identify proudly as socialist while exhibiting extreme nationalism. As a matter of fact, there is a recent thread on this very subject in the all-politics echo when I brought that subject up. Similarly, many politicians in office who identify as a democrat are unapologetically anti-semitic. If anyone should be hatefully branded a nazi it's them. Predictably, they do the branding.

Anytime a lefty throws their typical hate toward a conservative they scream nazi. It's ignorant and insulting.

People throw that term around so nanchalantly that they minimize it as a result.

    Hello calcmandan,

The nazi's were far left radicals like today's antifa.

Antifa is some new word Trump has thrown in there. It is neither an organization or group of people. It is in ideology. An ideology that has been a large part of American governments both Democrat and Republican. It stands for Anti-Fascist.

The nazi's were largely considered far right. That's true of

I don't care much to discuss the nazi party. It doesn't matter to me if they are left or right leaning.

They were more nationalistic and don't resemble todays right or
    left. I hope.

Yeah, the nazi's were definitely nationalistic. And there are
Europeans I've spoken with on these echoes who identify proudly as socialist while exhibiting extreme nationalism.

European countries are socialistic. They were also a target of the nazis.

The allies fought a long hard war against the nazis.

Yep, this kind of thing is still a problem today and I hope at the end of the current turmoil we will be a step closer to a final solution.

I think that people come in all sizes, shapes and colours. I don't think any of that is a problem.

Anytime a lefty throws their typical hate toward a conservative they scream nazi. It's ignorant and insulting.

You can call me a lefty, I don't mind that. At the core I am a conservative but I don't belong to any party. Certainly not the Canadian Conservative Party.

People throw that term around so nanchalantly that they minimize it as
    a result.

That is true. There may be issues to resolve today but that ain't it.

I'm going to drop this thread now. Not that I have a problem discussing it and I think there are times we should discuss these things. We might not be able to do much ourselves but we can discuss it and express ourselves at least but the consensus seems to be that politics is not wanted here in fsxNet so I'll leave it there.

We could pic up the chat in the DOVE-Net debate echo if you'd like to carry on.

    Okay, whatever.

European countries are socialistic. They were also a target of the
    nazis.

It wasn't the political system the nazi's were targeting, it was world domination and extermination of people deemed unpure. My maternal grandparents both died in a concentration camp in Eastern Europe. They weren't Jewish but Eastern Orthodox in what is now Serbia. My mother was in a camp for a short time near the end of the war. Due to the lack of surviving records, all the children in the camps were adopted out after the war ended. Her uncle combed the countryside and swooped up all the children to raise them. My mother's memory of her parents are vague and disjointed. The family never recovered.

My father lost his oldest brother in a camp. All his uncles, save one, perished in the camps. His surviving uncle had immigrated to the US prior the war. My paternal grandparents managed to hide in the hills and saved from the camps.

The allies fought a long hard war against the nazis.

    Indeed.

I think that people come in all sizes, shapes and colours. I don't
think any of that is a problem.

I'm a humanist too. And what we see hapenning is a real disaster.

I'm working through AWS training, but am looking forward to Azure,

learning new tech, I needed to run a stable of old crappy hardware in
