On 07 Feb 2021, Ogg said the following...

I'll allow two of the youngest ones to stay in the house
overnight when there is a blizzard or when the tempertures dip
low. One of them likes to sleep with me. The 3rd, and oldest,
is partially feral - she'll come inside to have something to
eat, but then she pines to be let out.

I live in a busy neighbourhood, there are some here who let their cats out but we're not one of them. One of our cats INSISTS that he sleeps on our bed, the other like to sleep on the bed in the spare bedroom. (They're both Siamese with strong personalities).

But unlike you, I don't leave any food out for them. They are
trained to eat everything I provide. I don't want them to get
fat and lethargic especially since they need to rely on their
speed when have to fend for themselves when they are outside. I
think they appreciate my dietary advice.

This is new to this set of cats. Our previous two lived to 15 (Misha) & 19 (Nikko), and we couldn't leave dry food out all the time. Misha would eat any and all food available to him. If he ate too much he would get an upset stomach and throw up in the most inconvenient location as loudly as possible.

Misha at his heaviest was about 20-21lbs and would "sumo" Nikko away from his food dish before going to eat his own food. We started feeding Nikko in higher locations where Misha would be unable to jump to. (Though he would try sometimes and it was hilarious to watch).
