• Changing file bases - files dissapear

From Michael Borthwick@21:4/132 to All on Thu Nov 22 15:57:16 2018
So I've got auto create on for file bases and it works well, file bases are created in the /extdrive/mystic/files/autocreated/ directory. When I come
along in Mystic Configuration to change the file path to say /extdrive/mystic/files/fidonet/ folder it moves the folder and files to the
new directory but when I look in Mystic the files that were imported are no longer listed even though they physically exist on the drive... is this a bug or am I going about it the wrong way?

Hmmm so the files are moved and the new folder is created right?

But Mystic does not list them, or does it show offline or ?

I may need to play to repro this and figure it out.

You could always run a mutil function like [MassUpload] to pick up the files and suck them back into the database, but why you should need to do that is
the bit that has me stumped right now. Hmm

So when the filebase is auto created it appears in the Indexed File Lister in this example as z3dist under the Auto Created group (I set up a group so they will all appear under the one group) and it will show the files it has
    imported

Hmmm so the files are moved and the new folder is created right?

Yes. When I change the filebase from /autocreated/z3dist/ to /fidonet/z3dist/ the new folders are made and the physical files are copied across.

But Mystic does not list them, or does it show offline or ?

When I log on to my bbs the filebase in this example shows under the FidoNet group however the file/s that were imported when the filebase was auto
created no longer appear in the Indexed File Lister.

Hope this makes some sense. I'll keep on testing as I get new file bases to make sure it's not me.. but i'm pretty sure it's not me.

If you use the 'list files' option on the file base that has been moved to a new directory do you see the files listed there?

Where are you doing this? I have a RPi also, and ran a test whereby I ran ./mystic -cfg and updated the path of a file base by adding an extra
directory to the current path. Mystic created the new dir but checking my Pi using the file manager I see the dir created but no files moved to it. They were still in the original dir and the indexed file lister still shows the files present.

Nope, nothing in the list files or indexed file list.

I'm doing the edits in the Mystic Configurator on my RPi.

I change the directory from /extdrive/mystic/files/autocreated/z3dist/ to /extdrive/mystic/files/fidonet/z3dist/ and it creates the new directory and moves the physical files.

Don't get too into it at the moment Paul, I'll wait till I get a new file in badfiles or autocreated and i'll document the whole process (I'll try to
get some video if I can) and send the documents over to you so you can follow exactly what I did.

But something isn't working as intended :)

    Paul I've found the problem.

I had the auto create prefix the filebase with auto_ ie it set
    the data file to auto_STN_OLIST

When I went in to manually fix up the filebase I renamed the data file (in Mystic Configurator) to STN_OLIST.

What is happening is Mystic Configurator is creating a _new_ empty data
file set called STN_OLIST while leaving the original auto_STN_OLIST data file set alone.

What SHOULD happen is Mystic Configurator should RENAME the data file set instead of creating new, empty files.

I tested by changing the data file field in Mystic Configurator to auto_STN_OLIST then went back in to the bbs and the files showed up in the
    file list.

So it is a bug, I'll just have to rename them all manually from now on....

You have to Mass Upload those files into the Database.
Just because Mystic made a new folder there and the files are in the folder, running Mass Upload in Mystic reads the files located in the new location,
and then adds them to the Database...

    Thanks :)

I found out that when I change the data file name (not the path) Mystic
creates a new data file set instead of renaming the original data file set. Manually renaming the data file set fixes the problem. But it should be automatically renamed when it's changed in Mystic Configurator.

I think you will find it's by design so data files are not tampered with. The Mystic author g00r00 may care to comment when he resurfaces. Buy hey glad you solved it and can figure a way forward that works for you :)
