Just another update... I am about 80 messages behind here and I am very busy with work. I'll probably be super busy for the next 3+ weeks as I have some deadlines that are aggressive and then I have to travel for a week.

Crazy days huh? Best of luck with the workload and travels... and thanks for sharing this update.

so party at your place when you get back ;)
Yeah, working through the weekends and so on. I still stop to take some breaks here and there (like this one) but its pretty much wake to sleep until this stuff is all done. I was two weeks ahead on my delivery when
until this stuff is all done. I was two weeks ahead on my delivery when some requirements changed causing a major impact to my design. Good
thing I was two weeks ahead.
Once the smoke clears I hop on a 2,500 mile flight to tie up some loose ends and just show face as they say (since I have been working remote).
Flying is more annoying these days because I used to fly 100,000+ miles
a year in my prime and I had every single perk you could imagine. I always got free first class and access to all of the lounges and so on. Now I get nothing because I only fly a few times a year.
After living the "celebrity flier" lifestyle it sucks to go back to
being a "peasant" in the eyes of the airlines.
That sounds grueling to say the least. I think it's good you can take
mini breaks to stay sane and give balance. Don't forget the eating and sleeping thing too... easy to say I know..

That kind of thing happen much? I guess it would, but perhaps not such an impact like 2 weeks for this one?
That way they know an AI didn't build it huh? :)
Hey I'm just happy to fly and I'm lucky if I travel 1/3 of those miles during my lifetime I guess :) Sounds to me like despite the lack of the flashy stuff the quality of life might be better overall though..
it was a major revision to the design. The particular issue was one
that I brought to attention to the group during our initial discussions, but it seems like no one really understood the issue I was trying to explain at the time. Now they do after seeing it.
I look very much forward to Friday nights when I can sleep in as long as
I want into Saturday and know that I have a whole other day off ahead of me.
Its so much easier to crunch on the weekends because during the week I
get so many other distractions at work. On the weekends I can work a
bit, check the networks, write a couple of lines of Mystic code to clear my mind, rinse and repeat.
Usually smaller things come up this late in a project, but in this case
it was a major revision to the design. The particular issue was one
that I brought to attention to the group during our initial discussions, but it seems like no one really understood the issue I was trying to explain at the time. Now they do after seeing it.
Flying loses its novelty when you do it all of the time. It sounds like you do it infrequently enough that its still feels adventurous, so that
is good!
Just popping in to say I am still alive, having a little bit of downtime from BBSing some evenings instead of full on BBSing ever night, but not disappearing or planning on going anywhere or things like that. Work during lockdown has been pressured and I've been stuffed at the end of most days. I'm in the final hour of my 'paid' work day and had enough of it so sneaking off to read echomail and do some updates.

Enjoy your down time.
I've been building little z80 computers. I've built 4 now, 3 that run
CP/M and one that can only do BASIC. I'm waiting on some more parts to attempt to build a wifi/modem thing and a terminal card that you can
plug in a vga monitor and usb keyboard to. I'm hoping I'll be able to connect to BBSes via CP/M

Nice...but you could always run it on one of your C128's. ;D

wow, that sounds like a fun project, what are you using to build
with?? rpi? arduino? custom ?? any pointers ??

Cool. Do you know what the dimensions (cols and rows) of your CP/M terminal will be? or what terminal it will emulate?
Port Magicka to the z80 and i'll run it on my sinclair.
wow, theres alot of options there - wish I was as handy as I used to be, just don't seem to have grip/energy that I used to.I've been building little z80 computers. I've built 4 now, 3

The kit I started with was the rc2014, it's website is here :
rc2014.co.uk
If you want to run CP/M the cheapest way to go is the SC114 and athat one sounds a bit more my ability - only about 70 solder joints - hmm now to get the approval :-)
module called the 61c "The missing module" which is a ACIA serial port
and compact flash card all in one.
All the kit makers are on the google groups "rc2014-z80" and
"retro-comp" and are very helpful and friendly.

I was sure I was posting in the general area. Didn't realize I was
posting in mystic. Paul must have written the initial message in two echos, and I didn't notice.
I thought some weird cross echo tossing was happening.

Bahh, most of us read all the echos and personally I don't even realize what echo I'm in. If I have something to say based on the convos that are happening I jump in. I too didn't realize that we are in the Mystic echo until you mentioned it.

Haha, just don't mention it's super addictive :P
