• Mail > what is "nodelist browser"?

From CatX@21:1/112 to All on Thu Nov 22 17:19:00 2018
While theming my message/mail menu I noticed an entry called "[B] Nodelist Browser". Nothing happened when pressing B (except for the screen flashing
for a moment), which made me curious - what is this feature supposed to be doing?

My Synchronet BBS has a nodelist browser as written by echicken. It
basically takes a nodelist (or a number of nodelists for different networks) and allows you to view the information about the BBS. I process the
nodelists that come from all my networks using the tic processor and stick
them in a nodelist directory which is then picked up by the browser.

If you want to see it in action, ssh, telnet or rlogin to
    endofthelinebbs.com then go to X (External Programs) > 1 - Main Programs > 4
    - FTN Nodelist Viewer

Nodelist browser is a menu option that relies on the mutil mergenodelist
stanza to be run across one or more nodelists from [insert message network
    name here]

The function creates a nodelist.txt file in the mystic data dir that the menu function uses to display nodelist info and allows the user to query the lists by network zone, net, sysop name etc. :)

Lets you browse the various nodelists the BBS is using that it's currently subscribed to for echonets.

For example, if you'd wanted to see every sysop that's subscribed to fsxNet, you could do 21:*. The reason you probably didn't see anything is because you're probably not hooked up to any echonets on your BBS. Once you have nodelists setup to use for at least one, it'll let you browse them.

if you tell mutil.ini where your nodelists are, and make merge Nodelists
true, you can then browse the information for the various networks your
    hooked up with

I have mine setup to run when processing tic's
