    Hello The,

I’m trying to change dir locations in Dove-Net QWK in my Bbs
globally. How do you do this?

I wouldn't worry any about that. The dove-net areas are in the default locations and working fine.

The fsxnet areas have their own location and the fido areas will also, probably
have a few directories of their own.

    Ttyl :-),

It looks neatly organized now Al. Put all the networks in their own separate directories.

/sbbs/data/subs is where message base files are
/sbbs/data/dirs is where your files are.

    In SCFG->Message Areas > Fidonet (example) -> Manage Sub-boards

Pick your first board -> Advanced options

In there I have Storage Directory set to ../data/subs/fidonet/

So all my fidonet message boards are in ../data/subs/fidonet

So this is what it looks like

    bbs@bbs:~$ ls -l /sbbs/data/subs
    total 612
    drwxrwx--- 2 bbs bbs 20480 Mar 1 05:07 adventurenet
    drwxrwx--- 2 bbs bbs 4096 Mar 1 05:07 agoranet
    drwxrwx--- 2 bbs bbs 12288 Mar 1 05:07 amiganet
    drwxrwx--- 2 bbs bbs 4096 Mar 1 05:07 combatnet
    drwxrwx--- 2 bbs bbs 12288 Mar 1 05:07 cscn
    drwxrwx--- 2 bbs bbs 12288 Mar 1 05:07 DevNet
    drwxrwxr-x 2 bbs bbs 4096 Mar 1 05:07 dorenet
    drwxrwx--- 2 bbs bbs 4096 Mar 1 05:07 dovenet
    drwxrwx--- 2 bbs bbs 4096 Mar 1 05:07 dovenet.save
    drwxrwx--- 2 bbs bbs 126976 Mar 1 16:34 familynet
    drwxrwx--- 2 bbs bbs 151552 Mar 1 05:07 fidonet

It's pretty clean and easy to maintain. Now, I would shut my board down then move your existing files into the new groups, then run scfg to change the location then startup sbbs, otherwise you'll create a load of blank files.

I have this done for my usenet areas, and something I ran into was that the nightly/weekly smbchk maintenance won't run on those.

Turns out a couple of my usenet areas had 40GB files on my disk, and it was wreaking all kinds of havoc (not just disk space issues, either). Once I ran the prune/pack on those areas, everything is working so much better.

Just something to keep in mind.
