• APE to iTunes?

    From Poindexter Fortran@VERT/REALITY to dove.audio on Thu Apr 27 02:34:00 2006

Does anyone know of a free codec/converter that will let me convert from APE to a format that iTunes can recognize?

What's APE format? I haven't heard of that one, but itunes will read MP3 okay, so if there's a converter going from APE to MP3 that should make
    iTunes happy.

http://www.monkeysaudio.com/ Lossless compression. Turns out I can use the
APE tool to decompress to WAV, then go to MP3 or AAC from there through
    iTunes (I think)

I use Foobar2000 to do quick transcodes and to fix bad mp3 headers...

It's mainly a media player but does lots of other stuff.

    Glad I could help.

I'm currently looking for a way to modify the current playlist in Winamp programmatically. It's really easy to fire up a new playlist at a predetermined time, but that cuts off the currently playing song. I'd like to be able to insert a file (or even another playlist) after the current song so that I could schedule guest DJ blocks, lunchtime shows, etc.

Moving my stream source from windows to linux is not an option. Linux equivalents of all the DSPs that I use for fading, eq and compression do not currently exist, and I would face a serious drop in quality by moving.

It's a shot in the dark, but I'd like to know if anyone knows of a solution.

Oh yeah, don't forget to give my stream a listen:

    APE - http://www.monkeysaudio.com/ it's a lossless format, which iTunes doesn't support. :(
