• News Alert: UK halts sharing Manchesteer bombing intel with US

    From CNN Breaking News@VERT to no-reply@siteservices.cnn.com on Thu May 25 11:08:39 2017
Britain has suspended intelligence sharing on the Manchester bombing[1] with the US after American officials leaked information to the media, an issue that British Prime Minister Theresa May will raise with US President Donald Trump later Thursday.

US officials released the suspected bomber's name and other details of the investigation into the deadly attack at the Manchester Arena Monday night, irking British investigators scrambling to keep details of the probe confidential.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said that only intelligence relating to this particular probe had been suspended, adding that "we quite frankly can't afford to risk it any more."

And the paper that supposedly published the leaked info... the New York
Times. They are New York's version of the Washington Post, publishers of
    the recent anti-terror leak details.

They blame Trump for leaking things, which I am sure he does, but they will
be the first to publish anything they get their dirty hands on, even if it
is damaging to our troops, anti-terror investigations, etc. Gotta sell
    papers somehow.

I'm kind of intrigued by this statement. Are you using a comparison to the Washington Post as a put down?

Yes. They both expect us to go nuts that the President (or whoever) told a secret, but then they turn right around and publish the secret itself. I
guess that ISIS, Al Quada, etc., can't read.

    Pot. Kettle. Black.

I don't believe they published "the secret itself"... I could be wrong. If I am, then you could provide the informant's name and the city in Syria in which the informant gathered the intelligence on the ISIS laptop plot. US and British officials told the public about the plot itself back in March when they banned laptops in the cabins of certain flights, so the plot itself is old news that was released officially.

Both papers work with intelligence officials on these types of stories to get clearance before going to press. They did so for these pieces.

But, if WaPo or NYT gave away the informant or the city, then I agree... that would be horrible. If they did, please share the URL to the stories in which they did. I wouldn't want to continue a subscription to a paper that would do that!
