Star Trek Federation - a novel by Judith and Garfield Reeves-stevens.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable read - it ties together the Eugenics wars, Zephram Cochrane, Flint/Brack, The Companion, TOS and TNG, nicely. A very entertaining read covering 3 different eras and filling in the gaps in some areas where Canon was lacking.

I used to have this book as a teen. I really liked it. In many ways, it's more believable and compelling than "First Contact."
