    this is my [serial] section on my ~/.dosbox/dosbox-0.74.conf

    [serial]
    >serial1=dummy
    >serial2=modem listenport:5000
    >serial3=modem listenport:5001
    >serial4=disabled

    then i have a terminate 5 and telemate configured to use the modem on
    >com2, i can dial to hostname with this config.

    This is somewhat unrelated to the subject of this message (Telnet)
    but if anyone is a DosBox expert I wouldn't mind some input on something
    I tried to get working for months a while back. I wanted to get Doom2
    running, Modem to Modem, on an OS newer than Win98. I have a couple of
    Win7 - 64 systems that I wanted to try it on. I thought I'd tried about everything and I experimented with someone from Germany from the DosBox
    site with no luck.

    I was last trying it with no luck using:

    serial1=dummy
    serial2=directserial realport:COM2
    serial3=disabled
    serial4=disabled

    I think I'd tried it before but just tried again replacing the
    line with 'serial2=modem listenport:5000' and still no luck.

    I get an Ok from the modem, unless that's a fake, but when it attempts
    to dial out it says no Dail Tone and Unable to connect..

    So if anyone has ever had any luck using anything else to dial out
    from a DOS program running in DosBox I'd appreciate any hints.

    Yeah, I have that as well but for port 23 and 500 and 5001.

    One thing I have noticed though is that downloads do not work. The ******(arrow down) appears but I have to press PGE-DOWN and Z to start the transfer but the transfer aborts.

    I suppose over Telnet, ZModem does not work. However, my Procomm Plus 4.8 works fine..... Maybe 8 bit compared to 32 bit over telnet?
