All you have to do is put your scripts in the
right directory..
/etc/cron.hourly /etc/cron.daily etc.... you
don't even need to restart
cron or anything.. of course you can still add
items to your crontab if you
need to. Cron starts at bootup and reloads
it's configs as needed.
