    Hey all,
Curious if anyone knows a good compiler (gnu / free) for Linux for C++. I'm new to Linux, new to C++, trying to learn a bit but having a rough time finding a compiler. Running Mint 9 (Ubuntu 10). Thanks!

All Linux distros come with GCC, the GNU C/C++ compiler. Go to Synaptic Package Manager and search, you may already have it installed.

    Kind regards,

Glad to point you in the right direction.

There are also many IDEs out there you may want to check out. More commercial ones being Netbeans at www.netbeans.org (formerly Sun, now Oracle, just like VirtualBox), Eclipse (eclipse.org, with the CDT add on) and KDevelop for example. There are about a million other ones I haven't mentioned.

    Have fun!

    Kind regards,
