• Failure of NAB

From Lee Lofaso@2:203/2 to All on Sun Oct 28 06:29:53 2018
    Hello Everybody,

The Nab failed because of technology and politics.

It only failed in your mind, Nick. It is still very much alive, and JK>working right now, and has been for years.

I think what Nick meant to say is that had the NAB stuck to what it WD>figured was its self-determined mission of moving files and mail, the WD>situation would be different.

When that NAB started playing dirty political games highlighted by
the FIDONEWS-debacle, in which you can claim a leading part, it moved WD>itself to the side-lines of the chess-board.

You can keep playing NAB for as long as eternity lasts (which BTW
is a contradictio in terminis) but people who don't want any of the WD>khontrol now have an alternative.

Individual sysops always had the authority to run their own systems
as they saw fit, regardless of efforts by others to censor what they
    could or could not do.

Fidonet is a free association of sysops from around the world who
share a hobby they all enjoy. Sysops are not going to voluntarily
give up their right to run their own system the way they see fit
so that somebody else can be happy. Sysops are also not likely to
    do so involuntarily.

In order to remain a "free association of sysops" there can be
no censorship, as allowing censorship would be a contradiction in
    terms.

I'll let those who continue calling themselves the NAB figure
    that one out for themselves.

The Nab failed because of censorship. Considering it never
worked in the first place, that is quite a compliment.

"The FidoWeb regards censorship as a hardware failure and just works around it."

    A minor glitch?
    Easily correctable.
    The FidoWeb being one solution.
    Ergo, no more glitch.
