    Hello All,

For the longest time, I couldn't figure out why I could listen on digital modes but couldn't transmit. Evidently, on my Yaesu FT-450D, I have to set the radio to "USB DATA" and et voila! there it goes.

I love Feld Hell and am going to try to get on the air more once I get my own antenna going.

If you don't know what Feld Hell is: https://sites.google.com/site/feldhellclub/Home/feld-hell-faq

It's a fascinating mode that's great for ragchewing and not just running a few macros on someone.

I use fldigi with flrig under Slackware 64 Linux in my shack.

    Sean

It's amazing how many digital modes there are. FT8 has become
extremely popular, and there are 2 big RTTY contests every year.

I can't stand FT8 nor FT4. To me, it's the same as sending 599 and counting that as a QSO. I adore Feld Hell because it's a ragchewing mode (and unique amongst all digital modes). I don't mind RTTY and PSK31 either.

    Hello Daryl,

    Hi, Sean...

I can't stand FT8 nor FT4. To me, it's the same as sending 599 and counting SD>that as a QSO. I adore Feld Hell because it's a ragchewing mode (and unique SD>amongst all digital modes). I don't mind RTTY and PSK31 either.

That's like most folks do when checking into nets, as "short time, no traffic", then do the same on other nets minutes later...what I call
    "Hi, Bye, and QSY".

I've never done Feld Hell, but I think it's becoming popular in its
own right. I ran PSK31 at one time on CQ100, but am only on CQ100 now on
Friday mornings for the Quarter Century Wireless Association (QCWA)
    CQ100 Net.

I used to check into the CQ100 Hoot Owl Net in the evenings, but now,
I'm involved with the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) D-Star
Net, and the New Mexico D-Star Net on Thursdays. I also just put several
back presentations from the CERT Net (I'm Net Control on the first
Thursday for Rick, KA2BSM), into their own files area on the BBS.

I use fldigi with flrig under Slackware 64 Linux in my shack.

fldig will not work with my Yaesu FTdx5000MP. I am not the only one who can't get it to work. It will receive but will not put audio to the transmittler with my RIGblaster Advantage.

All my other digtal and contesting programs work both stand alon and with
N1MM, PSKExpress, MMTTY, WSJT-X, CWType and CWGet.

Very disappointing because I enjoy Contestia, Hell and Olivia and the others when I can see people using them. At least PSKExpress gives me a few of those modes but not all of them

It depends on the library they're using, I guess. It works well enough with my FT-450D. flrig works quite well and has enough features for me to use it.

I love Feld Hell. I'm a member of the Feld Hell Club (#6163). But I rarely hear anyone use it. I have tried calling CQ over around 7.084 at night but usually nothing.

Well guess what I got it working. First thing was to ask the author of fldigi who suggested a new method of hooking the advantage throught the back packet port rather through the front microphone audio.

Next I went to the tech support at West Mountain Radio asking for that cable and sending part of the reply and the diagram to them.

I got a quick answer back saying that was not necessary and giving me a suggestion on what setting to use on the program.

Well what do you know five minutes laster it was working and no need for a
new cable. So now I am able to configure both te 5000 and the 867D to to fkdugu,

We have used hat mode in county hunters but there are not many if any mobiles that are active digitally which is too bad becayse U an at 74,9% of all the U.S. counties worked on digital. I do pick up a new one on FT8 once int a while but they are few and far between.

I've got a few on 6 and 12 meters which have both been open. 5 meters was
open to Canada, Bermuda, barzil and Washington State here last week.

40 meters has been good and Ihave picked sup a few new countries in the last week or so, New Caladonia, (rare for me because of my antenna), Finland, Gibralter and one or two others. Wating for the to concfurn KBITW,
