• MRC <-> WINS Interface

    From Robert Wolfe@21:2/136 to All on Sun Feb 17 15:13:46 2019
    So, it looks like one of the Sysops on WINSnet (a WINServer support network I run) has made the suggestion to write a WCX module that will allow WINServer boards to connect to and allow users to participate in MRC-type chat networks. I was wondering if anyone had any documentation on the MRC protocol that I could
    go by to try and accomplish this feat?

    Hi Robert,

    This is a very good question and the answer is yes. I have put together a protocol specification document for the current MRC chat protocol. I am 80% done rewriting the server from scratch and implementing additional safeguards around the protocol while trying to maintain as much backward compatibility as possible.

    I will reach out to you and provide you with the information.

    Cheers!

    I'd like to take a look at that document when it's available as well. Would be fun to put something together for Synchronet.

    It's better to look at the doc has this project has entered a new evolution phase and is developing quickly. It is moving away from the current codebase
    to a whole new codebase.

    The goal is to still support the existing clients for some time and many new features will be implemented and they will not be reflected in the current source.

    Cheers!
