• Magicka git?

From Blue White@21:4/134 to apam on Sat Jun 22 23:56:12 2019
    Good evening,
When you have a chance, could you post the correct git address for
doing a git pull to update Magicka? I updated my .git/config based
on something someone else posted, but all I get are timeout errors.
I think I have something wrong as I am able to reach the website via
a browser, just cannot get git connected to it.

    Thanks!

    Thanks, I had git:// instead of https:// .

The reason I wanted to update is that I have been getting errors lately
when trying to use the web interface. When I log onto the board (same
address, port 8080) and click Conferences, it asks me to log on. I do so
and it shows me the conference list. I can choose a conference and see the message links.

However, if I click any message link, it returns a 403 Forbidden message.
I am able to click Conferences again, choose a conference, click a message link, and then I get the same error.

I just did a 'pull', a 'build clean', a 'build www', and I restarted
magicka. I am still getting the error.

I thought maybe somehow the permissions got messed up, but I am able to
read the same messages if I telnet or SSH into the board. I am also able
to post replies, so I don't think that is it.

    Thanks!

Strange, your web site works for me on firefox. What web browser are you
using? I've seen this happen before when using netpositive or something
    on haiku.

Firefox on a debian box. :) It just started recently, maybe I need to
    clear my cache or something.

Well, I tried again today. Some echos work fine. I was not able to
read the messages in this one, for example, but I was able to read
the messages in one of the newgroups and in the local bases.

I checked the file ownership and r/w permissions... they all appear
to be the same for this message area and the one other one I was able
to read so I am not sure what is going on.

I also thought maybe I would be able to read older msgs but not newer
ones in the same areas but that did not work. I can either read an
area or get a 403 on all messages.

I see the problem, for some reason, the urls are wrong for those messages

The last number in the url should be the number of the message you want
to view, but it's way off. I'll have a look at fixing it now.

    Ok, pushed a fix.

Are you using JAM or Sqlite message bases?

Thanks, apam! I am using JAM.

    apam,
Thanks, I have pulled the updated and it seems to be working now. I am entering this message via the web interface and have been able to pull up several messages that I could not access before.

Well, I am still able to open all the messages I have tried so far but I
have noticed that, in this conference, the statement above regarding what should be in the url is not correct. This message shows as '1496' on the
index page, but the url is 3263.

It is working, however, so I don't know that this is a big deal (and
maybe the number displayed on the index is wrong?).

The index page shows the number of messages from 1, unfortunately the
"message number" isn't necessarily equal to the offset of messages in the
    base.

So while the index is one, the message number might be something else -
and depends on a few things, like deleted messages, trimming message
    bases etc.

I think this fix broke the lua stuff with messages that tiny's seeing.
I'm not really in the right mind frame to fix it at present.

It's alpha code no one complains. :) I'm sure you'll get around to it
one day, and if you don't you don't. Either way my life will
    continue. <Laugh>
