Nu, is there any inherent advantage or disadvantage to generating a new PGP
    key using KB vs GPG?

My current key has expired. The last key was created using GPG but I see KB
can also do it. In the help notes I see KB has the ability to pull a key out
of the GPG keyring and select it for use with KB.

I'm leaning towards KB but then unsure if I can use the key with GPG tools I have here also - argh :)

    N00b questions :)

    Best, Paul

There should not be, no. I suppose, perhaps, for paranoia reasons one may want to use GPG tools over somthing else, but I don't really think it's necessary.

I think this is perfectly fine, and probably more convienent.

OK thanks... yeah I was not really sure and it's not an area of expertise
for me - appreciate the feedback/guidance.
