Been distro hopping a bit, as my brother in law has been playing WoW, and I can't do that in OI. So back to Linux it is. Went through fedora,
ubuntu and back to openSUSE. fedora with mate, ubuntu with gnome, and on openSUSE I installed cinammon. Oh I installed lumina on ubuntu too.

I use ubuntu with i3-gaps instead of a DTE, I prefer a good tiling
window manager =)
Kind of bored today. There are plenty of things I could be doing but none are really appealing at present.

Probably will settle here for a little bit.
Exciting times.

Bored? Looking for a distro? Try ArchLinux (or Manjaro, or Antergos
[both ArchLinux derivatives])! That'll keep you busy for a few hours!
Sometimes I like doing things like that.. It's good to learn about different things and what you like and don't like.
In the past, my favorite Linux distro was often SuSE (and later
OpenSuSE).
Currently I really like Linux Mint with Cinnamon. Ubuntu isn't bad
either.
The only thing I don't like about ubuntu (and others) is there movement towards snap / flatpak packages. Not so much flatpak but I really don't like snap packages.
BTW antergos has been discontinued.
On 31 May 2019, apam said the following...
With me running Ubuntu on three systems here, that is one thing that has me concerned as well. I've tried installing packages with snap, and none of them have been successful. I guess there is also an issue with
security with the snap packages as well...
I've already noticed on this system, running a fresh 19.04 install, that
I can't get programs like notepadqq anymore. They are only available via snap, and those don't install on here... I might have to change over to Debian in the near future...
I've not tried linux mint (was always put of by it's branding, I know that's silly but meh lol) Always seem to come back to openSUSE, though fedora 30 was quiet good, but it didn't have yast.

Really? When?
Notepadqq still has a PPA if you want to install using apt.

I had to look it up when I read this... It looks like about 10 days ago. So it was recently... :(
I've started using Geany on this system. It works well for what I need. :)
Ah! Geany! Good Notepad-plus-plus alternative (the plus key didn't work for some odd reason)... and I discovered Visual Studio Code. Pretty good little IDE VSCode...

I was Ubuntu for years until the went with that stupid in-house menu
(what was it called?) Then I switched to Mint, and have been happy for several years. But now Mint has dropped KDE support, leaving me stranded on an older version. I suppose I could try installing KDE manually over
a more recent edition, but it's gonna lack all the customized
integration.
Otherwise, I'll be distro hopping to something else with KDE. Shame. Mint really is good.
I used to have VSCode on here, before doing the fresh install. It seemed a bit bloated to me... Maybe I'll have to take another look at it.

Geany and Notepad-plus-plus (the plus key isn't working still... I hope it's just Telix being a pain), it is bloated.
So, I guess it comes down to how you use VSCode: as a text editor, it
kind of is bloated; as an IDE, not too bad. It is built with the

I pretty much used it as a text editor, and a little as an IDE... Now, I've been using Geany as more of an IDE, so maybe I'll give VSCode another shot.
