A massive blackout affects from this Sunday morning to the City of Buenos Aires, the Buenos Aires Conurbation, several provinces and Uruguay. It is the first time in history that the lack of supply is registered in the entire national territory and simultaneously.
The cut occurred at 7.07 am and neighbors began early to relate what happened from their social networks.
Faced with this situation, the Energy Secretariat explained that "a collapse
of the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI) produced a massive power
outage throughout the country that also affected Uruguay". The SADI is the power transmission network with high voltage lines from the power plants to
the users.
From the Secretariat of Energy confirmed to Infobae that the failure occurred in the electric corridor that goes from the Central de Yacyretá to Buenos Aires, in one of the three high voltage lines operated by Transener. "In one
of the lines there was a fault, we do not know the reason but it is very
likely due to the humidity that generated some fault in the protection
system, such as loss of insulation, and that dragged another line and the
whole plant," explained Juan Alberto Luchilo, Undersecretary of the
Electricity Market.
The energization process began two hours later from the strongest points in
the system: the Yacyretá, Chocón and Salto Grande hydroelectric power
plants. Transener, on the other hand, opened the system and is energizing
again to be able to regularize the service.
In spite of the speculations on a supposed sabjate, it clarified that "the
cut was produced of automatic way (without human intervention) due to a fault of the system of transport from Yacyreta".
At 1330 hours one third of the demand had already been restored: 5000 MW over 15,000. Thus, GBA, CABA, Entre Rios, Santa Fe, Mendoza, San Juan and Cordoba are gradually resuming the normality of the system.
