Really... Sadly it was a short trip (4 days), so I didnt get a chance to look around.

It was a long day coming home. I left Atlanta on Thursday evening (after a
full day), to arrive in LAX (making the day longer), and then the 16hrs over
to MEL, to arrive on Saturday morning. (And not much sleep on the way.)

After clearing immigration and the hr or so drive home. I sat down for about
an hour having lunch and a cuppa to then head off to my Son's 7th birthday party ice-scating for 3hrs. He (and my 5yr old daughter) had a ball.

I finally got to bed around 8:30 and was out for nearly 11hrs.

It's probably been 35 years since I was last ice skating - but proud (/amazed) that I got around without any falls.

Before I left for Atlanta, I had taken the kids camping and my Son had me climbing on a the "Sky Trial" on Philip Island. He ran around the (two+
storey) structure like it was another toy in the playground. For me, on the other hand, I was a bit slower, and thankful that it wasnt any higher... :)

Been to LAX once two years ago on my way to Seattle.... missed the connection after landing late from a flight from Auckland. It was busy, bustling, manic and I was tired from my flight etc. But to see the iconic traffic control
    tower made my day :)

Before they enabled the "secure" walking between Terminal 4 and TBIT, I used
to always be in awe of being on the bus that went near the A380 - only to see how big that machine is.

It still blows my mind, that that big chunk of equipment, weighing the gizzilion tons that it does, with ~400 people and cargo - flies gracefully through the skys at 900km/hr.

I've stopped in LAX twice - on the way to and from the US in 2005. On the US bound trip, my flying leg terminated at LAX. After going through immigration and customs, I was picked up by friends and we headed south to inland from San Diego.

On the return trip, I started in Austin, TX, then a 5 hour stop in LAX. No buses, I only had to walk to the next terminal to catch my flight across the Pacific. Left at 9:30PM, then a 2-3 hour stop in Auckland 12 1/2 hours later, before the 4 hour leg to Melbourne in the early morning. I think from memory it was something like 29 hours on the go. :)

Yeah, sounds like my trip home in 2005. It's a long time to be travelling. And I hardly slept either.

After clearing immigration and the hr or so drive home. I sat down for about an hour having lunch and a cuppa to then head off to my Son's 7th birthday party ice-scating for 3hrs. He (and my 5yr old daughter) had a ball.

Ouch. :( I only had a 30-40 minute taxi ride.

I finally got to bed around 8:30 and was out for nearly 11hrs.

Yeah, know that feeling too! :) I'm probably going to pull that trick a couple of times in the next few weeks, as I travel to Perth and back (red eye special on the return leg!). Heading west, the 3 hour time difference and relatively early start makes for an early night in Perth, while the trip back will be a sleepless night on the red eye, and probably awake the whole day after, or maybe a few hours nap in the middle of the day.

I don't think I experienced that but I did take a massive bus trip in from where we landed in to the terminal.

Yes, it was a smooth trip, only delay was an jour or so in Auckland, hardly a blemish on an uneventful trip. :)

Seems a pain to have to go LAX to NZ then back to AUS

NZ is in the middle, so not much of a detour. :)

Yeah. I'd like to do it again. Maybe sport will get me there. :)
