This is a work in progress with much appreciated assistance from Xqtr.

Idea is you will be able to send a netmail to musicbot and request a song
that will be inserted into the playout software on Total FM

The bot will reply in echomail to confirm receipt of the request and let you know the song is coming up

I have really wanted to set up a streaming radio station here. Got started setting up and using liquidsoap and icecast. Got to reading and found out that, here in the USA you have to pay royalties for every song that you
stream (but not if you are an OTA radio station). So, my "station" is currently limited to broadcasting over the LAN. :)

There are some services that will take care of the royalties for you, along with hosting your stream, but they are a little pricey for what I have in
    mind.

    Paul,

Nice feature. Is there any way to listen to Total FM on my Amazon Echo?

Mine is FM station first and I have done little to promote or link the streaming option to what must be a bunch of rebroadcast options online I guess...

Here you pay a fee that covers record composer and producer royalties for 12 months, and it's not too steep for hobby stations not set up to make $$

I don't know, probably not I'd need to know how your echo sources it's audio
to best pursue that as an option. I guess it can tap into some streaming services?

From my research, it's using tunein.com as the back-end for streaming radio stations. Not sure if they have a method for station owners to get listed
with them. If you're ever able to get listed, let me know and I'd love to
have it available on my Echo :)

You'll laugh but despite having a streaming server spun up at home I've never made any efforts to publish it's outputs to other online radio streaming services like that. So let's give it a whirl. I am probably very remiss in
not pushing the content out a bit further.

If you (or others) know of established streaming index services for broadcasters that you think I should link to, feel free to post suggestions
    to this thread :)

Well it seems at face value the tunein.com site is not looking for new
listings but I have contacted them in the hope that they might accept mine. Will keep you posted.
