• pi sd flash too many writes

From nristen@21:1/161 to toofargone on Tue Feb 12 21:55:44 2019
Thanks Avon :) Had to spend the day moving the bbs to a VM from my pi.
I found out flash devices don't like lots of writes .. it slowed down
    till it stopped lol.

One thing that I have done on my pi is run log2ram which mounts /var/log/ to a ramdisk which only periodically writes to the disk.

Then I changed my mytic log location to /var/log/mysticlogs

I have thought of putting all of the mystic stuff on a NFS mount but I have not tested that. I also remember g00r00 mentioning recently about mystic not working well accoss multiple filesystems.

I think any issues have been resolved now. But they are very specific, like
if you have your incoming and badfile directories on different disks for example.

I was going to use a portable hard drive (spindle not flash) but never
got around to going to officeworks. I think I might just use the pi for a backup dns/dhcp server for the home network plus maybe a ntp server. I
only restart my unraid server once a month so I can afford to restart the
    bbs vm that ofen.
