There is certainly room for it to be optimized more. Part of my problem is I am dealing with code from 1999 that ran in a single threaded console mode. It doesn't do those things now, but that was how it was designed at the time.
As I mentioned, NetRunner does things a bit differently than other terminals and it does have a higher "minimum system requirement" in order to be useful. More reason for me to get off my ass and work on optimizing it more though... I just need 72 hours in a day with all of the projects I am working on.
Another thing could be that if you are using Mystic BBS's spell checking that can also add a little bit of input time when posting a message since Mystic does spell checking, error highlighting, and word suggestions as you type.
