Is there a way to change File Group Index numbers? I understand that the numbers that visitors see are dynamic but the static (ID) numbers on the backend are a problem for me. My message groups run 1 Local, 2) fsxNet, etc. My file groups are 1) fsxNet, 2) Local, etc. See, backwards! I
get that its not a ~real~ problem except that Im OCD and these
particular differences hurt my brain, especially when Im looking through the mailin.ini. ;)
Go into config and hit the slash key from the file group listing and choose move before on the group you want to move. So cursor to Local and hit / and choose move before and move it.. :) Hope that helps...
Thanks Bucko! Ummmmm, have you actually seen this work? Perhaps I'm
just doing it wrong (wouldnt be a first) but I have never been able to
get that function to work. And I've tried. Lord knows, I've tried!
Just tried it but didn't give all.. First hit /C to copy the File Group, then cursor to where you want to put it and hit /M and it will move...

Yessir, that works to move the description but it does not change the
ID#. The problem (for me) is that in the mailin.ini fsxNet is ID 2 (g2)
in the message section but ID 1 (z1) in the files section. In a perfect world I want the local group (file and message) as ID 1 and other
networks ID 2, ID 3, etc... I hope that this makes sense. The 'Move before' function only moves the description up. It does nothing to the IDs which remain the same...

Ok I gotcha.. The only way around that then at least as far as I know would be to delete then re-add the groups. Maybe Avon has a better way.. Lets wait to see what he has to say before you delete and re-add..
I should have read ahead before replying... :)

No. You would need to delete and re create them in the order and with the labels you want to use, then you would need to use the global editor on tagged file bases to update the ACS codes according to the new schema
you had set up.
Thanks Avon! Thats pretty much what I decided had to be done.
Sometimes the voices in my head won't let me leave well enough alone! BWAHAHAHA~!
